FISU

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) is a global sports organization established to develop and promote sports among students worldwide. Its headquarters is located in Lausanne, Switzerland.

FISU coordinates the activities of 174 national university sports federations that are members of the organization.

Under FISU’s guidance, the Summer and Winter Universiades — the student equivalent of the Olympic Games — are held every two years.

The mission of FISU is to contribute to the education of future leaders by promoting Olympic values among students and youth, and by strengthening the connection between education and sport.

Since 1959, FISU has organized the World University Games (Universiades) every two years for students aged 17 to 25.

In addition, in even-numbered years between Universiades, FISU organizes World University Championships in sports that are not included in the Universiade program.
